Emily Nelms

Artist Statement:

I place the present and the past side by side.  Sometimes they support each other but often they repel.  I focus on those things that were previously disregarded.  With honesty, I speak of matters that many sweep under the rug.

I am interested in depicting the cause and effect of the choices we make in our relationships.

It is detailed. subtle. minute yet vast, and overbearing at times.

Emily is an undergraduate candidate for painting and sculpture at the Savannah College of Art and Design.  She is originally from Ft. Lauderdale Florida, but currently resides in Savannah, Georgia. Her art forms include sculpting, drawing, painting, or collecting natural treasures.  In her spare time she enjoys traveling, furniture restoration, studying psychology, woodworking, knitting, cooking, sewing, and investing time with loved ones.  She plans to study Art Pyschotherapy after the completion of her undergraduate degree in the year 2013.
